Let me say this before reviewing the Kindle Fire charger. I do not have buyer’s remorse of purchasing this charger. It works wonderful. However, don’t do like I did and pay $20 for something that you can get for $9.99.
Just before you proceed to the checkout screen, take note of the ‘Add Kindle Accessories’ widget on the right side of the screen. On this short list, you will see the Kindle PowerFast charger for $9.99. If you buy it separately on the product page, it will cost you $19.99.
Since a charger does not come with any of the models, I suggest you go ahead and get it while you are purchasing the Kindle Fire. You can save yourself $10 by buying it with your new kindle. If you don’t and find out you need it later, you will have to pay $19.99 like I did. Hey, I’m a working stiff like you and I know we could all benefit from saving some money wherever we can.
This review will cover the Amazon Kindle PowerFast for Accelerated Charging. If you do not want to buy a charger for your Kindle you can use the USB cable it comes with in the box and charge it using your PC or laptop. I got this charger because it fully charges my Kindle within an hour and other devices. Plus I don’t always have my laptop with me.
What I like most about this charger is that it is a well-made, solid charger that is made of high quality materials. I know I will be able to use it for years to come without having to buy a new one. This charger is virtually universal and it can charge all Kindle e-reader models and Kindle Fire models.
So, if you decide to upgrade your Kindle, you only have to buy this charger once. The power adapter is 9W, 1.8amp and it charges really fast. This charger is small and compact, which makes it great for storage and travel. The AC Power prongs are retractable making it more compact.
When you plug it into a wall outlet, it does not cover up other outlets; and you can charge your device whether it is on or off. The only thing I dislike about this charger is that it didn’t come with my Kindle.
On a side note, if you are traveling outside of the USA, you will need a plug adapter to charge your Kindle. I have used this Kindle charger with the Kindle Fire 1st generation, Blackberry Curve 9330 Smartphone, Kindle Touch, Kindle Fire HD 8.9″, Kindle 2, Plantronics Voyager PRO+ Bluetooth Headset, and iPad 2.
